2009 MADRONA FIBER ARTS Winter Retreat

I am sorry I did not write this blog until now. I have been busy and I thought: "It does not matter - nobody read it anyway!" Until I got mails asking for it. So here it is - better late than never!
If you want to see my Japan-adventure - please click "Next" above!

Arriving to the US as a foreigner is a mess. First we have to get in lines like cattle and step by step we go through Migration and there are always many people and it is normally extremely hot and we are all very tired after a long flight.

But I got through as always and I was picked up by Susanna Hansson. After a few days together we drove to Tacoma ...

to hotel Murano (to the left).  From my window I could see Mount Rainier.
The hotel has newly been restored to perfection - designed by glass artists. Here is a bar lounge with a fantastisc painting.
See below to the left.
The above painting is made by squares as this! Here is my favourite - a glass bowl in the most incredible warm colors.
There were interesting glass art everywhere - here is a viking ship!
Here is my bedroom ... and a rest room - I just love it.
Stephanie Pearl Mc Fee gave a talk ... and she was not alone.
Here is my color class - picking colors for the colorwheel. An see those 4 girls - same sweater (LOLLI/POP), different basic colors. From the left: Aubergine, No basic color, oatmeal and hemlock.
In a color class we knit a lot of interesting samples. Here is one ... and another one.
All the students in one of my classes were great and good looking women. Here they are modelling my designs ... and here is the designs piled up afterwards.
Every floor was decorated by a glass artist. My floor had those breasts. The next day - I went for a walk and see what I bought!!!
I have now attended the Madrona Fiber Art Winter Retreat more than once and I truly enjoy it - so thanks to Susanne Petersen - I am hoping to be back again in 2011.
