My favorite tools

I love tools - and I know - I am not the only one.
Here are my favorite tools.

A NEEDLECASE
is important when travelling and this particular one is made by a Russian woman. I bought it in the Weaving Center in Harrisville, NH, USA.
I love it and I always bring it when traveling.

My STORECASES
To the left is my hippo - he has eaten my circular needles, so he is happy.
Above is my entire ZOO. From the left: The hippo, the dolphin (he is empty now), the crocodile (he holds my good short double points), the frog (he has my extra markers etc.) and at last the koala holding my juelries when I am travelling.
Cute - are they not?
MY MAIN TOOL BOX
This box is my most favourite box - a cannot live without. Here is everything I need. It is a gift from Susanna Hansson (http://www.oneofsusannas.com/) - it is small - only approximately 4" x 5" and it contains what I need. You just cannot miss to buy it. It is bought in a shop with flyfishing equipment.
Right now I have all I need in it and in sort of nice colors.
... I wish the box had a nicer look - may be white transparent!!

Now what is inside?

SCISSORS
A special pair of scissors - foldable - so that it fits in the box and it actually cuts very well.

HANDI TOOL
Small hybrids of a crochet hook and a knitting needle. They are usefull for everything - like rescuing a dropped stitch etc.
Susan Bates make them - but where can I buy them wholesale???
POINT PROTECTORS AND STOPPERS
Those are brand new and I love them.
I got them from Clover in Japan and they are fabulous. I can turn a pair of short double pointed needles into a pair of domino needles.
But the colors!!!!! Clover - plase - make them in nicer colors!
Clovers products wholesales from www.clover-usa.com/

POINT PROTECTORS
These point protectors are nice and green - and I love them, but only as point protectors - they gets in the way when I use them as a bump at the end of double points. So ... nice colors, but only point protectors.
Why not different colors - so that we can choose. I mean - not everybody like the colors I like!
POINT PROTECTORS - again
I also got those pink little things in Japan (Clover) - they are really good and they have a flat side, so that they can lie safely on the table - dont fall off the table - but again - the color????
I would also really like it to have a nicer shape - may be as a fun frog or a heart or something!
I like my tools practical, but also nice.
LOCKING STITCH MARKERS
The locking stitch markers are absolute a must in my tool-box. The colors??? One thing for sure is - I am always able to find them, when I loose them. So ...
SOFT STITCH RING MARKERS
More markers - AND AGAIN Clover!!!
Are they really neccasary?
Yes - I need them - for example when I need to count to 387 sts, I put them in every 25 sts. But I also use them for many, many other reasons.
I love them mostly because they are soft.

Very nice colors - I like the green best!

FANCY MARKERS
I bought those at Stitches East last year and I dont know by whom.
I really want to know where to get more of them as I use them on my totes and my purse in the zipper - so that it is obvious that I knit.
Too bad that the metalpart is so poor. I will replace them with better metal rings.
BEAUTIFUL MARKERS
Those are little domino markers - they are absolutely precious!

KNITTING NEEDLE GAUGE
Here is an ugly thing I cannot live without.
It helps me figuring out the needlesizes, both the Metric and the US needle sizes. Ugly!? -Yes but necessary!

TAPE MEASURER
Again Susanne gave me this tape measure - great color!!!
STITCH HOLDER
from Clover is also important and this opens up from both sides. Smart!

STITCHKEEPERS
They keep the tips of the needles safe and keep the needles together.
I got a pair from Nancy Bush www.woolywest.com/accessories.html
and later the whole collection from Rollie, the producer http://home.rochester.rr.com/stitchkeepers/

NOSTEPINS
Of course I have mechanical ballwinders. However I love to wind my yarn on a nostepin. It is so relaxing and the balls look so beautiful. I really enjoy it.
Creasy? - Yes - but I do not care.

CROCHET HOOKS
These great ergonomic crochet hooks are avaiable in very nice cases. I have gotten it from Clover. I adore this case and love to work with these crochet hooks. Try them!
